Location: Bullfrog Lake is in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. When approaching the John Muir Trail from the eastern Sierra, a popular lateral is to start at Onion Valley (west of Independence, CA) and hike over Kearsarge Pass. This lovely lake is on the ʺlower trailʺ from Kearsarge Pass to the JMT.
