Location: The Kearsarge Lakes are in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. When approaching the John Muir Trail from the eastern Sierra, a popular lateral is to start at Onion Valley (west of Independence, CA) and hike over Kearsarge Pass. Once on top of Kearsarge Pass you get a wonderful view of Kearsarge Lakes below you. This is a popular camping and fishing area.
